IVF GP Workup - Mandatory diagnostic testing for female fertility

Below is a list of mandatory diagnostic testing for female IVF patients:

Infectious Disease Screening (must be current within past 12 months):

  • HIV
  • Hep B
  • Hep C
  • Syphilis
  • CMV
  • HTLV I & II
  • Gonorrhoea
  • Chlamydia
  • Rubella
  • Varicella

General Health Testing:

  • Full Blood Count
  • HbA1C
  • Thyroid Function Test
  • Liver Function Test
  • Electrolytes Urea Creatinine
  • Iron Studies
  • Vitamin D
  • Folate
  • Blood Group and Antibodies
  • Hb Electrophoresis
  • Lipids
  • Insulin - Fasting
  • Glucose - Fasting

Fertility Hormone Testing:

Performed between day 2 - 5 of cycle:

  • Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH)
  • Luteinising Hormone (LH)
  • Osetradiol (E2)
  • Testosterone
  • Sex Hormone Binding Globulin (SHBG)
  • Free Androgen Index (FAI)
  • Prolactin

Performed 1 week prior to expected period (day 21 of a standard 28 day cycle, adjust for longer cycles):

  • Progesterone (P4)

Performed at any time:

  • Anti-Mullerian Hormone (free through 4Cyte for Connect IVF patients)

Required Imaging:

  • Pelvic  Ultrasound    
  • Antral Follicle Count
