About Me

Dr James Brown is a consultant at WHRIA and offers fertility treatment, including IVF, through Connect IVF. To book an appointment with Dr Brown, call WHRIA on 1300 722 206.

He is a gynaecologist specialising in menopause and fertility, and also sees women with hormonal concerns such as PMDD, heavy menstrual bleeding, and PCOS. He is the clinical co-lead for the Specialist Menopause Service in South-West Sydney and advocates strongly in this area through research and policy. He is a co-author of the RANZCOG Menopause guidelines and developed educational material for the Australasian Menopause Society.

Dr Brown graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from the University of Sydney in 2014 and completed a Master of Public Health in the same year. He has spent the last decade training and working in hospitals in Sydney’s west, beginning as an intern and resident before specialising in Obstetrics and Gynaecology from 2017.

Dr Brown remains heavily involved in research and teaching. He is an appointed academic at Western Sydney University where he lectures, teaches, and supervises Masters projects. He is also continuing his own studies, undertaking a PhD in Health Economics.

Having worked in the area for the past decade, Dr Brown is enthusiastic about providing exceptional menopause and fertility care.

Dr Brown has not always worked in medicine; he began his career as a radio journalist and marketing professional. He later worked as a General Manager at a laser eye surgery practice, which sparked his interest in the clinical side of medicine and led him to pursue a medical degree.

When he is not working, Dr Brown enjoys surfing and spending time with his wife, who works as a paediatrician.
